This special meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Magnetawan was held at the Magnetawan Community Centre on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.

 

Council members present: Mayor Sam Dunnett; Deputy Mayor, Tim Brunton; Councillors Jack Crossman, Charlie Gray, John Hetherington.

 

Staff in attendance: Clerk-Administrator (C-A), Andrew Farnsworth; Deputy Clerk (DC), Nicole Fraser; and Chief Building Official (CBO), Brian Horseman.

 

Notice of this meeting was posted on the Municipal website and at the Municipal Office.

 

1. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M.

  1. 2. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA

RESOLUTION  2018-091
Moved by Councillor Brunton; Seconded by Councillor Crossman:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Municipality of Magnetawan adopts the agenda for this special Council meeting of Tuesday, March 6, 2018. (Carried)

3. REVIEW OF DRAFT ZONING BY-LAW UPDATES

Council reviewed the draft zoning by-law updates and provided the following direction for staff to provide to the Municipal Planning Consultant:

  • Change the maximum dwelling height in the Shoreline Residential and Village Residential Zones to 35 feet, to be measured from the subfloor of the first storey to the peak.
  • Change the maximum height of an accessory building and two storey boathouse with a secondary dwelling to 26 feet measured from the subfloor or high-water level to the peak.
  • Determine the permissions for various zones due to the changes of definitions in the Planning Act and the Building Code regarding second units.
  • Accessory building set-backs from interior side and rear yards should reflect the setbacks in each specific zone.
  • Include definition for “leaching bed component”
  • Legal non-conforming chart to be removed and building cannot further reduce the existing encroachment/nonconformity.
  • Add the Rural Residential, General Commercial and Institutional to the permissions for Storage Containers.
  • Change the minimum square footage of a dwelling to 300 square feet in the Rural and Rural Residential zones.

Moved by Councillor Hetherington; Seconded by Councillor Brunton:
BE IT RESOLVED THAT  the Council of the Municipality of Magnetawan moves to a closed session at 4:00P.M., pursuant to Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c.25, as amended, as the subject matter being considered consists of: (i)      a trade secret or scientific, technical, commercial, financial or labour relations information, supplied in confidence to the municipality or local board, which, if disclosed, could reasonably be expected to prejudice significantly the competitive position or interfere significantly with the contractual or other negotiations of a person, group of persons, or organization (being to discuss a commercial business proposed in the Municipality)

BE IT RESOLVED THAT  the Council of the Municipality of Magnetawan returns to open session at 4:20P.M.
